The traditional head of the title of Ajiyan Sokoto, Alhaji Umar I. Ajiya, has denied the rumors of Governor of Ajiyan Sokoto that circulate in some sectors that plan to dispute the elections of Governor of Sokoto in 2027.
This was revealed in a statement by Ajiyan Sokoto spokesman, Bashir Ahmad Danmalam, a copy that was made available to the coup on Monday night.
“It is known that part of the orchestrated plans that are developed is to circulate the campaign posters with the image of Ajiyan Sokoto, insinuating that he is planning to play for the government seat of the state of Sokoto,” the statement said.

Danmalam described speculation as “without foundation, false and unfounded”, urging the public to ignore it.
“We want to make it clear that Alhaji Umar I. Ajiya did not demand that any individual or group that prints or circulates any poster in his name. It remains a loyal member that transports an APC card committed to the development and support of democracy in the country,” he said.
He blamed the rumors of governor of Ajiyan Sokoto to the “discontent elements” who, according to him, do not want Ajiya well and insist on causing disaffection between him and the governor of the state of Sokoto, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu.
“Such insinuations aim to discredit the head of the traditional title, which has no plan to dispute any elective position, much less the governor’s seat of the state of Sokoto,” he said.
Danmalam emphasized that Ajiya, having served in private and public sectors before retiring peacefully, has no political ambitions. Instead, he remains committed to supporting the current administration under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu in his efforts to raise Nigeria.
Therefore, he urged the people of the state of Sokoto and the Nigerians in general to ignore the rumors of Governor of Ajiyan Sokoto, warning that Ajiya would not hesitate to take legal actions against individuals or groups that try to cause enmity between him, the governor of the state of Sokoto or the federal government.
“We call on the public members, especially in the state of Sokoto, who ignores the mischief of those who disseminate these rumors, which aim to create confusion in the state and the country,” Danmalam added.
