The Congress forum of all the progressive (APC) of the center-norte (APC) warned President Bola Tinubu to leave Vice President Kashim Shettima as his formula partner in the 2027 presidential elections could cost 80% of the Muslim votes of the north.
The president of the forum, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, advised Tinubu to keep the status quo and retain Shettima, citing the success of his ticket in the 2023 elections.
Zazzaga argued that those who requested the replacement of Shettima did not vote for Tinubu in 2023 and will not vote for him in 2027, even if he drops Shettima.

“Those who are asking President Bola Tinubu to change to Vice President Kashim Shettima, based on their agitation on the Muslim-Muslman ticket, if it verifies, it will notice that in 2023, most of their communities voted for Peter Obi of the Labor Party,” he said.
The APC forum also responded to the statements that the Muslim-Muslman ticket would lead to losses in the middle belt, pointing out key positions in the hands of the prominent Christians of the middle belt in the APC government, such as the national president of APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and secretary of the government of the Federation, George Akume.
“The Muslim-Musulman ticket will not affect the possibilities of President Bola Tinubu in the middle belt … We can ensure that Tinubu obtains 90 percent of the votes of the center-north,” reads the statement.
Zazzaga also accused some people of seeking Tinubu’s defeat in 2027, saying: “The truth is that most of these people are not followers of Tinubu, they really do not want to win re -election in 2027”.
He also warned of the Muslim communities of the North while focusing on the Christians of the North, stating that this approach could be counterproductive.
The APC Forum Council to Tinubu, Tribune online Gathered is to continue with the winning formula of 2023.
“We advise Mr. President who does not play with the 2023 elections. President Tinubu will lose 80 percent of the Muslim votes of the North if he decides to change Shettima,” said the statement.
