United Kingdom: 14 -year -old boy arrested by mistake during the robbery investigation

A 14 -year -old boy has been arrested by mistake during an important police operation in the United Kingdom in an alleged terrorist plot, the Metropolitan Police confirmed.

Five men, four of them national Iranians, were arrested on Saturday during the raids coordinated throughout the United Kingdom, as part of an investigation into a “suspicious plot to point to a specific place.”

During an arrest in stockport, Greater Manchester, two men and a teenager were arrested after “they seemed to have escaped.” The three were released later after being released from any participation.

The boy told Manchester Evening News that he fled because he was afraid to be kidnapped when armed officers jumped from an unmarked vehicle. He said that “they put a weapon on his face and ordered him to” climb to the ground “before pulling him down and put a knee on his neck.”

In a statement, the MET said: “As part of the proactive surveillance investigation on terrorism on an alleged terrorist plot, a man was arrested in the stockport area on Saturday, May 3.

“Three people in the vicinity seemed to work since the arrest was underway. Due to the severity of the investigation and public security concerns, they were arrested.

“The officers then confirmed that the two adult men and the 14 -year -old were not linked to the matter and were released.”

The residents of Cheadle Hulme described the incident as distressing. Sarah Owen-Jones said her son began to cry after being trapped in a park with friends when the Armed Police moved.

The five arrested suspects remain in custody while searches continue in the directions in Greater Manchester, London and Swindon.

Separately, three more Iranian citizens were arrested in London on Saturday in an unrelated anti -terrorism investigation. They remained under section 27 of the National Security Law 2023, which applies to the suspicion of “foreign energy threat activity”.
