The sales of new Tesla cars in the United Kingdom and Germany fell to their lowest levels in more than two years in April, despite the growing demand for electric vehicles (EV) in both countries, according to national data.
In Britain, Tesla's sales fell 62% year after year, while Germany saw a 46% decrease. The fall occurs when Tesla prepares a renewed model and to counteract the growing competition of EVEM and Chinese EV brands.
In Germany, Tesla sold only 885 vehicles in April, according to the traffic agency Road Kba. This marked the fourth consecutive month of decreases, contributing to a fall of more than the year more than 60%.
In the United Kingdom, Tesla had previously surpassed other European markets, but last month only 512 new cars were sold, below 1,352 in April 2024, they showed the data of the Society of Motor and Merchants Manufacturers.
“This led to a one -year market share to 9.3% for Tesla in the United Kingdom,” said the New Automotive research group. “That is less than 12.5% a year ago, according to the data of the research group.”
Tesla websites in both countries establish that the deliveries of the Rvampado model are expected to begin in June. However, it can happen a few months before any positive impact on sales becomes visible.

Beyond sales challenges, the company also faces a public and political reaction. “Musk's closeness with the president of the United States, Donald Trump, his policy and efforts to eliminate waste in government agencies in the United States have stimulated protests against him and the company, as well as vandalism in their exhibition halls and accusation stations in the United States and Europe.”
After Tesla's world sales and profits in the first quarter lost expectations, Elon Musk recently announced a change of focus. He said two weeks ago that he would reduce the time he spent to the Trump administration and spend more time directing the company.
In the widest market, general car sales in Germany fell 0.2% in April, but EV sales increased 53.5%, according to KBA.
In Britain, battery electrical records increased by 8.1%, even when general car sales fell 10.4%, SMMT reported. The growth of EV in the United Kingdom was slowed compared to the previous months due to broader economic conditions, a new car said.
Meanwhile, rival brands were advanced. “Volkswagen battery electrical sales in the country increased 194% to 2,314 vehicles last month, while China's byd records increased 311% to 1,419 cars,” said the research group.
