The governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, received an honorary prize at the Naira Muemetrics Capital Market Award, which is held in Lagos on Friday.

When presenting the Honorary Award to Mr. Cardoso, the founder/CEO of Nairamerics, Mr. Ugo Obi-Chukwu, said that the prize was in recognition of Cardoso's transforming leadership and strategic strategic contributions to the financial and financial capital markets of Niger Financial, the confidence of the restored investors, the deepest market and the participation and promotion of the CBN.

In addition to individual recognition, the Central Bank of Nigeria also won the “Market Reform Initiative of the Year” award, a testimony of the continuous efforts of the bank to promote systemic reforms and innovation within the financial ecosystem.

According to the organizers, “the recent political interventions of the CBN aimed at strengthening monetary transparency, investor confidence and financial market stability earned him the distinguished prize.”

Receiving the prize in the name of the governor and the CBN, the director of the bank, the Banking Supervision Department, Dr. Olubukola Akinwunmi, expressed his gratitude to Naira Mamers for the award and urged all interested parties to continue fighting for transparency to guarantee stability in the financial system.

Other winners of the Honorary Prize were the governor of the state of Lagos, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Oolu, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, General Director, Commission of Bolsa and Securities (SEC), Dr. Emomotimi Agama and President, Capital Market Academics of Nigeria, Professor Uwaleke.

The posthumous awards were also awarded to the trio of the late Chief Akintola Williams, the first public accountant of Nigeria, the late chief Subomi Balogun, the pioneer banker and the deceased Engor (Mrs.) Florence Seriki, a female technology business pioneer.

The event had 25 awards categories and brought together key actors from the entire financial services sector to celebrate excellence, resilience and leadership that shape the future of the Nigeria capital market.
