Heart disease remains one of the main causes of death worldwide, often attributed to risk factors well known as bad diet, lack of exercise and smoking.
However, many people continue to overlook other silent but equally fatal taxpayers to cardiovascular decline.
These hidden factors can silently damage the heart long before obvious symptoms appear.
According to Dr. Dmitry Yaranov, a cardiologist who has treated thousands of patients with heart failure, there are five surprising lifestyle habits often ignored that could increase their risk of death related to the heart, from sleep deprivation to poor oral health.
1. Jump sleep
Not sleeping at least six hours, one night can increase your risk of heart disease by up to 20%. Dr. Yaranov warns that sleep deprivation interrupts vital processes such as blood pressure regulation and glucose metabolism, which can tighten their hearts over time.
2. Avoid the dentist
Ignoring oral hygiene not only affects your teeth, but can also affect your heart. Gum disease allows bacteria to enter the bloodstream, causing inflammation that can contribute to the accumulation of plaque in the arteries, a condition known as atherosclerosis.
3. Stay in a bad marriage
Toxic relationships are more than only emotionally drainners. Chronic stress of marriage conflict can lead to high blood pressure and increase cortisol levels, which are harmful to cardiovascular health.
4. ignoring sleep apnea
This common but subdiagnosed condition interrupts breathing during sleep and reduces the supply of oxygen to the heart. Over time, unreasonable sleep apnea can increase the risk of high blood pressure, arrhythmias and even sudden cardiac death.
5. Excessive alcohol consumption
While moderate consumption can have some protective effects, excessive alcohol intake weakens heart muscle, leads to irregular heartbeat and increases blood pressure, all of which significantly increases the risk of heart failure and stroke.
