Ambassador Bianca Ompumegwu-Ojukwu has been praised by commissioning the Bruce Mayrock Memorial, a tribute that combines the historical memory with a call to national healing.

In an open letter issued by the Director General of the Directorate of Mobilization and Integration of the Labor Party (LP DMI), Comrade Marcel Ngogbehei, Ambassador Ojukwu, was praised for his “unwavering loyalty” to the Leguacy of his figure of Chukwuemekaemeka of Nigrea and the leader of Nigeria.

Bruce Mayrock, the young American student who tragically self -innomological in front of the United Nations headquarters in 1969 to protest the global silence about Biafran's genocide, is now being memorized on Nigerian soil.

Mayrock, despite being a stranger for nationality and culture, remains a symbol of international empathy and moral courage.

“This act is historical and curative. It serves as a symbolic bridge between the continents, between the past and the present, and between the suppressed memory and the emerging truth,” said the letter.

Ngogbehei also highlighted the importance of the presentation of the monument at a time when marginalization feelings still persist in southeastern Nigeria.

The gesture of Ambassador Ojukwu, supported by members of the current administration of Tinubu, was described as “a welcome development” and “a great advantage” for the image of the federal government among the defenders of peace and unity.

“This action is aligned with our central values: historical truth, social justice and inclusive national healing. It shows that even within today's complex political climate, there are still voices within the government that they remember, that they empathize and that they are willing to act,” said Ngogbehei.

The management promised to support the initiative of the Ambassador Ojukwu, particularly in the education of Nigerian young people about the importance of historical memory and national reconciliation.

“His courage, his excellence, serves as a lasting example for all Nigerians in public and private life,” concludes the letter, invoking the memory of Dim Ojukwu and Bruce Mayrock as lasting symbols of sacrifice and justice.
