The Nigerian Institution of Strategic Research and Development (Nirsal) PLC, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Development, has launched a food management training program to train actors in the country's won value chain.

This initiative aims to position Nigeria as a leading supplier of quality beef to national and global markets, taking advantage of a direct foreign investment treatment of $ 2.5 billion with the global giant of meat meat, JBS.

The first cohort of the training program held in Abuja recently arrives at a critical moment when Nigeria is entering the center of attention as a global destination for the investment of meat of choice.

The JBS association will see six modern meat processing plants built throughout the country, with two dedicated to beef, marking the greatest demand for premium raw material of local producers.

Speaking at the Opening Session, Mr. Sa'ad Hamidu, Managing Director/CEO of Nirsal PLC, presented the strategic intention of the program: “This is not just another training; it is a specific intervention aimed at creating financing agribusiness by improving food formulation practices, the reduction of input waste and the optimization of the Livestock finish cycles market.

“As things are, we are preparing the producers of Nigerian cattle to feed not only the nation, but to the world. And this is directly aligned with the vision of the federal government for a nation prepared by agricultural export.”

Among other achievements, the program is aimed at the production of export meat in Nigeria, while improving the productivity and profitability of producers.

Although the $ 2.5 billion agreement with JBS is the most notable in the series of investments allocated to the subsector cattle of Nigeria, it is not the only one.

Local companies such as Abis Group are also making significant investments in the meat value chain, creating a greater demand for high quality raw material.

The participants in the first cohort of the training program were extracted from the Ministry of Development of the Livestock, the Agricultural Department of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), NationalSociation of Cattle Ditcerers, Processors & Marketers of Nigeria (Nacdpman), Amalgamada Union of Foodstuff and Cattles of Nigeria (AUFCDN), Maidoki Farm Farm, and others.

The director of Ranchos and Pastoral Resources Development in the Ministry of Livestock Development, Shekamang Ayuba, himself participant, praised training as a “open and suitable”, urging its expansion throughout the country.

Nigeria's cattle, rich in potential but hindered by obsolete practices, low quality food and limited financing, is on the verge of genuine transformation.

The intervention of Nirsal aims to unlock the entire potential of the subsector addressing the structural gaps through a combination of: “Technical incentives for the construction of capacity and incentives to share risks for lenders; support of the end -to -end value chain and private public strategic collaborations.”
