A study recently published by the PEW Research Center has revealed that the number of people who do not identify with any religion in the United States almost doubled between 2010 and 2020.
Pew's global religious landscape study figures show that the population of religiously not affiliated individuals in the United States increased from 51.2 million in 2010 to 100.9 million in 2020, an increase of approximately 97 percent.
The increase reflects a growing trend in the United States, where a significant portion of the population is moving away from organized religion.

While Christianity remained the dominant religion in the United States in both years, its number decreased from 243.5 million in 2010 to 217.3 million in 2020.
In contrast, other religions, such as Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism, registered modest increases. The Muslim population grew from 2.8 million to 4.0 million, while the number of Hindus increased from 1.8 million to 3.0 million.
Despite the general growth of non -Christian groups, the non -affiliated category greatly experienced the most significant increase, remodeling the country's religious composition.
Pew said that worldwide, Islam remained the fastest growing religion during the same period, mainly driven by natural population growth.
However, in the United States, the most notable religious change was the increase of people who no longer identify with any faith.
