The National Coordinator, School Protection Squad, CP Abayomi Shogunle, has revealed that Nigeria's police force now has an emergency center in operation 24/7 dedicated to school emergencies.
He made the dissemination on Thursday in the interested part forum on the safety of schools in the state of Oyo and the training of the School Protection Squad (SPS).
The two -day event, which was held in the city of Ibadan, had interested parties, including educators, security experts, religious leaders, traditional institutions, students, merchants and government officials.
Also in full participation were other security agencies, including the Nigerian army, the Nigeria Customs Service, the Niger others.
CP Shogunle spoke about the security challenges that the Nation has faced in recent years, including kidnappings, cases related to homicides and the destruction of school infrastructure, which sometimes leads to the closing of such educational institutions and an increase in the number of children outside the school.
He observed a 2021 report from the National Policy on Security, Security and Violence Schools, which indicated that between 2012 and 2016, more than 600 teachers were killed in attacks, while more than 19,000 students were displaced.
CP Shogunle said the Safe School Initiative was launched by the Federal Government in 2024 to allow children affected by conflicts and insecurity to continue their education without obstacles.
He said the plan includes a national investment response aimed at protecting schools, students, teachers and non -teaching staff of attacks everywhere in Nigeria.
Emphasizing that the right to education is essential for social and economic progress, CP Shogunle said that the policies that are being implemented are in line with the renewed agenda of hope of the current administration and the mandate of the Nigeria Police Force to ensure lives and properties, which is being persecuted by the inspector general of the Police, Dr. Kayode Egbetokun.
In his comments, the inspector General Police Assistant in charge of Zone 11, Fred Ekokotu, who represented the PPE, said that a collective responsibility was necessary to overcome the threat.
Welcome to the participants, the police commissioner, the state command of Oyo, Johnson Adenola, explained that the meeting was to share ideas, strategies and measures to take advantage of the nation's schools.
In his messages of good will, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, represented by Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade, and the vice chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Koyode Adebowale, suggested that intelligence collection, as well as learning institutions on research and community participation, would be a good way to make a good way.
Declaging the open workshop, the governor of the state of Oyo, the engineer Seyi Makinde, who was represented by the Commissioner of Education, HE. Olayegun Olayiwola identified hooliganism and cultism as the causes of many crimes.
