… NWC led by Abure gives OBI to resign from 48 hours to OBI
The factions groups in the Labor Party (LP) have resumed their Word of Words, just 24 hours after the 2023 presidential candidate of the party, Mr. Peter Obi, joined the coalition of politicians who adopt the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a platform to compete against President Bola Tinub in 2027.
While the National Rookie Committee (NCC) of the party, led by the former Minister of Finance, Senator Nenadi Usman, completely supported Obi's decision to join the ADC, the National Labor Committee (NWC) under the leadership of the national president, Mr. Julius Abure, gave Obi a last of 48 hours to resign from the LP.
Each of the camps, maintaining their recent trends, insisted that they remained the authentic leadership of the party.
The Abure Group, which was the first to react to OBI's decision on Thursday, said that by joining the coalition, Obi had lost his membership in the LP and must resign within 48 hours.
The camp described the coalition as a conglomeration of “power traffickers whose only interest was me and not people.”
He warned the Nigerians that the “new” Nueva Nigeria de la Boca is possible “is a trick and cannot be achieved with the set of old politicians, recycled, desperate and frustrated in the coalition.”
The Secretary of National Advertising, Mr. Obiora Ifoh, in a statement, claimed that “all who poorly administered to Nigeria over the years are those who met in the coalition”, while indicating that desperate politicians cannot give birth to a new Nigeria.
The camp added: “We are aware of several night meetings between Peter Obi and some of our members, pressing them to join him in his new party. We are also aware that some of them have refused to defect with him.
“The Labor Party has constantly said that it is not part of the coalition and, therefore, any of our members who are part of the coalition is delivered within 48 hours to formally renounce their membership of the party.
“The Labor Party is not available for people with double agenda, people with misleading personality. The party will not use people who have a leg in one part and another leg in another place. The people who in the morning claim to be in the Labor Party and at night are in the coalition.
“Almost 70 percent of the Nigerian population are young people who are tired of the old order, tired of the Geróórócratas decide to decide their destiny. The new Nigeria with which young people dream is not what can be done of what we are seeing in the coalition.
“These people are opportunistic politicians who are only interested in transmitting to the circle of power, desperate people to continue clinging to power.”
But in a rapid response, the NCC led by Usman dismissed the Abure Group, saying that after the Supreme Court Judgment of April 4, which ended its mandate, Abure had no authority in the LP to decide the fate of OBI.
He said Obi remained part of the LP while also participating in the Coalition of the ADC.
The special senior advisor (media) of the president of the NCC, Ken Eluma Asogwa, in a statement on Thursday, urged the Nigerians and party supporters to ignore the Abure Camp.
Disputing the 48 -hour ultimatum, the assistant of the NCC leader wrote: “The attention of the Labor Party has been attracted to deceptive reports and comments that suggest that his excellence, Mr. Peter Obi, has issued a 48 -hour ultimatum to resign the party after his participation in recent coalition conversations and the presentation of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Abuj.
“To avoid doubts, the leadership of the Labor Party, on May 26, 2025, publicly declared its full support for OBI's participation in coalition efforts aimed at creating a solid political alternative to rescue Nigeria from the disastrous bad manualization of the APC. That position has not changed.
“We wish to reaffirm that the participation of Mr. Peter Obi in the activities of the coalition, including the presentation of ADC, was carried out with full knowledge, approval and support of the leadership of the Labor Party.
“The individuals who claim to have issued an ultimatum for Mr. OBI are political plaques without legitimate position in the Labor Party. They are not recognized by the party or by law, since they have been fired by the Supreme Court of Nigeria, the highest court on Earth, and suspended from the party for their serial acts of indiscipline and anti -pertz activities.”
