In the context of generalized speculations that he is breastfeeding the ambition to become the next governor of the state of Bayelsa, Dr. Sam Ogbuku, managing director and executive director (MD/CEO) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has denied such ambition.
Instead, he declared that his main ambition is to see the re -election of President Bola Tinubu for a second term, declaring his unwavering commitment to this objective.
Ogbuku made the clarification on Monday in Asaba, the capital of the state of Delta, during the presentation of its score as part of the elaborate activities scheduled for the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Commission.
He issued denial while answering the questions of the journalists, emphasizing that he had not informed anyone of interest in disputing any choice in 2027.
The head of the NDDC said: “I have not told anyone to be playing any choice. The choice in which I am interested is the re -election of Mr. President.”
He urged all those who take measures to declare support or campaign to challenge the Government of the State of Bayelsa to channel such energy and resources to support the re -election of President Tinubu.
Speaking about the performance of the NDDC in the last 25 years, he regretted that the frequent changes in the management and the joints of the commission by the successive federal governments had seriously hindered their career without problems and, consequently, the development in the region.
Dr. Ogbuku declared that the NDDC, under his leadership and the current Board, undertakes to achieve the renewed agenda of hope of President Tinubu, who is concerned about the development of the Niger delta region.
He thanked the president for giving him the Board the opportunity to serve the people of the Niger Delta, for extending his mandate and for supporting the completion of abandoned projects.
Ogbuku said that people in the region need roads, hospitals, schools, electricity and water to address their immediate and peculiar challenges.
Speaking beyond, the Chief of NDDC said that to fulfill the mandate of President Tinubu for the Niger Delta, the Commission decided to involve the interested parties in the region to achieve the desired objectives.
He said that the Commission has adopted a transition transition policy to transformation and has digitized its acquisition process to avoid manipulation or falsification.
Ogbuku emphasized that the commission is determined to carry out its intervention responsibilities and complete key projects abandoned in line with the president's board.
He declared: “For us in NDDC, we are pointing to inherited projects. We have to analyze the most critical and important projects.
“The mandate we have is to complete those critical projects. We are undertaking important interventions because they are our responsibility.”
