The main indigenous energy company of Nigeria, Seplat Energy, has reinforced its commitment to responsible leadership and the transformation of the sector through active participation in the 13th annual forum of the Businessday Nigeria CEO.

The 2025 edition of the Forum that was held on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos., With the theme “Nigeria: of the Reform to Recovery”, brought together senior government officials, investors, corporate leaders and experts to discuss the ongoing reforms of Nigeria and share the strategic perspectives for the national growth of renewal and sustainable economic growth.

The executive director of Seplat Energy, Mr. Roger Brown, represented by the company's operations director, Mr. Samson Ezugworie, was a panelist in one of the high -level sessions with the sub -theme, “oil and gas in transition: reforms, recovery and agreements that matter.”

Mr. Brown shared perspectives on the transformation of Nigeria's oil and gas, the growing role of indigenous companies and how Seplat has been taking advantage of technology to improve operations and develop the country's capacity.

“If we look at the trajectory, I would say personally that the perspective is very excellent, and we are well positioned for an oil and gas transformative industry,” Brown said.

According to him, “Nigeria is rich in oil and gas resources, with more than 200 billion cubic feet of gas, we are in the right place. We are also seeing international oil companies that leave the areas of waters in land and shallow and transfer them to indigenous players.

We have demonstrated both the capacity and the financial strength to assume these assets and run with them. It is as if the stars were aligned, the perspective is even better than what we had before. “He reiterated.

He also pointed out the increase in platform activity as a strong indicator of sectoral growth. “The platform count in Nigeria was 8 in 2021. Today, it is found in approximately 46. That tells him a lot about the level of activity, the interest of investors and capital that returns to the country. It is a strong sign of recovery and impulse in the sector,” he presented.

Previously, Frank Aigbogun, Editor and CEO of Businessday Media Ltd, welcomed the guests with a convincing direction that framed the tone of the forum.
