FG classifies Kogi Govt Top in compliance with mining regulation

The federal government has classified Kogi's state governor, Ahmed Ododo, as the most fulfilled governor in the Nigerian solid mineral sector.

This recognition was granted by the Minister of Development of solid minerals, Dr. Dele Alake, during the Summit of Natural Resources and Energy Investment of Africa.

Dr. Alake praised Governor Ododo for his commitment to regulatory compliance, institutional reforms and responsible governance in the solid mineral industry.

He pointed out that such dedication is essential to achieve the federal government's vision of transforming the mining sector into a key driver of Nigeria's economic diversification.

“The state of Kogi has demonstrated an excellent level of alignment with the federal government road map for the solid mineral sector. Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has demonstrated what it means to lead with purpose and responsibility,” he said.

He added: “In an era in which we are working to reposition the mining sector to attract sustainable investments, the type of policy and governance direction that we are seeing in the state of Kogi is not only commendable but exemplary. The State has not only complied with regulatory guidelines, but has also positioned itself as a main destination for investments and innovation related to mining.”

Governor Ododo, who was represented at the summit by the state commissioner of Kogi for solid minerals and natural resources, Eng Bashir Muhammad Abubakar, presented the strategic perspective of the State on the development of mining to the interested parties and participants in the meeting of the actors of the high -level industry.

Eng Bashir explained that the state of Kogi remains at the forefront of the future mining of Nigeria, due to its firm commitment to regulatory compliance, the value of addition and a friendly approach to investors for the development of resources.

According to him, the State has created an enabling environment, backed by perfect regulatory processes, to promote the ease of doing business within the solid mineral sector.

He pointed out that the launch of the “Market Mines” initiative, a strategy designed to promote local raw material processing to improve value chains, create employment opportunities and increase income generated internally.

“Our message is simple: Kogi's state is Nigeria's future. Nigeria is the future of Africa, and Africa is the future of the world. Therefore, Kogi's state is the future of the world,” he said.

The commissioner also expressed his appreciation to the Minister of Development of solid minerals, Dr. Dele Alake, for his transforming role in the repositioning of the mining sector.

He also expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for sustained support for the state of Kogi, particularly in the areas of mining and infrastructure development.

He pointed out that the administration of Governor Ododo is open to strategic associations, technology transfer and capacities construction programs aimed at accelerating sustainable growth in the sector.

The presentation of the state of Kogi received praise from the participants, who praised the regulatory direction of the State, the commitment to sustainable mining practices and the preparation to welcome investors through transparent and efficient frameworks.
