The National Agency for Food and Medicines Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public alert that warns Nigerians about the circulation of falsified cowbell “our milk” 12 g of Sachet in the country.
In a statement published as a public alert No. 026/2025, on the website of the agency, he revealed that Profema Nigeria Ltd had stopped producing “our milk” center in September 2023, replacing it with Cowbell “our creamy goodness.”
According to NAFDAC, the consumption of counterfeit milk raises serious health risks, including exposure to toxic chemicals, unprapizers or diluted ingredients. The risks can lead to food transmitted diseases, allergic reactions, damage to organs and, in severe cases, death. Babies, children, pregnant women and the elderly are particularly vulnerable.
“This includes the unauthorized use of the brand, the design of the packaging, the registration number of NAFDAC and the registered trademark.
“The MAH has confirmed that these products are not manufactured or distributed by them, since the falsified packaging design was last used for production by the company in September 2023,” Nafdac said.
The agency said that the genuine cowbell milk is creamy, the packaging material used is the revised png art “our creamy goodness”, the printing of lot details is done with laser printing, the coding is done in the coding area in the pocket, and the seal and the cut in the vertical layoffs are automated.
He said that the content of the falsified cowbell milk 12G does not look like milk, the packaging material used is the old PNG art “our milk”, the impression of lot details was made with ink instead of laser printing, the coding was not made in the coding area, but in a different part of the sacha, and the sealing and the cut in the vertical seams were made manually.
The statement added: “The use or consumption of falsified cowbell ‘our milk’, milk has serious health and safety risks.
“These products may contain harmful substances, including toxic chemicals, unmpected additives or diluted ingredients that do not comply with food safety standards.
“The consumption of falsified milk can cause diseases transmitted by food, allergic reactions, damage to the organs or even death in severe cases. Lenos, children, pregnant and elderly women are particularly vulnerable.”
The agency urged all the Zonal Directors of NAFDAC and state coordinators to perform surveillance and mop the products of the falsified cowbell milk 12g within their areas and states.
“Distributors, retailers and consumers are recommended to have caution and surveillance within the supply chain to avoid the distribution, sale and use of the falsified milk product.
“All food products must be obtained from authorized manufacturers/suppliers/licensed. The authenticity and physical condition of products must be carefully verified.
“Health professionals are recommended and consumers who report any suspicion of sale of lower quality food products and falsified to the nearest NAFDAC office, NAFDAC at 0800-162-3322 or by email: [email protected].
