The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned Tuesday’s last massacre in Malumfashi, state of Katsina, where dozens of worshipers and villagers were brutally killed, describing it as an additional test of Nigeria’s collapsed security architecture.
In a statement signed by its Secretary of National Advertising, Mallam Balaji Abdullahi, the party linked the murders with a wider wave of terror in Katsina and Zamfara that has charged more than 140 lives in two months, and called President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to stop “going to the reaction worldwide.”
The part asked the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Ball to declare an emergency state urgently in the affected states.
The party also criticized the decision of the Governors of the PDP to celebrate their political meeting in Zamfara only days after the tragic slaughter of dozens of people in the state, which describes the action as insensitive.
The complete statement said: “The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is deeply outraged and concerned about the recent massacre in the area of the local government of Malumfashi of the state of Katsina, where 30 faithful were shot dead in a mosque during the prayers of the dawn, and 20 villagers were burned alive in their homes.
“This evil act personifies the horrors that the Nigerians have been forced to endure under this administration. It is also a condemnatory evidence of the total collapse of our national security architecture, which has even led to the Head of Defense (CDS) of the Nation to ask citizens to learn how to defend themselves.
“The butcher in Katsina is presented immediately after the recent murders in Zamfara, where 47 people were sacrificed, including 38 hostages killed even after Ransom was paid. And only this month, not less than 45 Nigerians have been killed in Zamfara, with whole Ransacked peoples, and left the two months that they have been killed in just two months.
“It is discouraging to observe that, instead of confronting these urgent national tragedies with the seriousness they demand, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu continues to establish throughout the world, chasing photographic photos, while their people die in dozens at home. We want to remember Mr. President that diplomacy abroad makes no sense if safety and security at home cannot be guaranteed.
“It is equally frightening to observe that President Tinubu has not made a direct statement of condolence to the family of victims or given the security of security to those who are still alive. This negligence would have been unthinkable in those countries that the president loves to visit.
“In view of the above, ADC requires an immediate statement of an emergency state in the states of Katsina and Zamfara until the government can stop the tide of bloodshed in those places and restore some order.
“We also ask President Tinubu and his government to embark on the total reevaluation of Nigeria’s national security architecture, which has already proven unable to protect lives and properties. The recent call of the Chief of Staff of Defense (CDS) so that citizens acquire self -defense skills is perhaps the most honest indicator that there is a need to renounce the entire internal defense system.
“In a similar line, we condemned the decision of the PDP governors to celebrate their political meeting in Zamfara on Saturday, just a few days after dozens of innocent citizens were sacrificed in that same state.
“Instead that the governors recover around their besieged colleague to help stop the orgy of the murders, they decided blood.
“This act only underlines even more an important fact: neither the ruling APC nor the incurably affected PDP care about people and their suffering. They only care about power and politics.”
