A new survey conducted by Geopolitical Survey International (GSI) has revealed a growing public anger in the state of Osun against the federal government and the ruler Congress of all progressives (APC) on the prolonged seizure of local government assignments.
The survey, held between August 1 and 15 in nine federal constituencies of the State, sampled 10,000 respondents, with 60 percent of women and 40 percent of men. He covered main villages, including Osogbo, Ile IFE, Ikirun, Iragbiji, Iwo, Ila-Orangun, Ikire, Ejigbo, Ede, Ilaesa, Odeomu, Ilobu, that Oke, Ipetumodu and Kuta.
The findings showed that women have the greatest part of the crisis, with 84 percent of respondents who identify them as the most negatively affected by the retention of the federal government of the funds. Only 10 percent mentioned men, while six percent was undecided.

On guilt, 86 percent of respondents blamed the federal government, describing action as illegal and unconstitutional. The eleven percent blamed the state government, while three percent expressed indifference.
The survey also revealed that political consequences could be significant. Around 87 percent of the respondents promised to vote against the APC in future elections as a result of the crisis, with 85 percent declaring support for the Democratic Party (PDP) of the peoples if the elections would be held today. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) attracted two percent support.
The main consultant of GSI, Dr. Adeyemo Adeyefa, said the results underlined “a solid domestic support for the state government in his encounter with the federal government” and reflected “the growing anger of the natives and residents against the APC.”
According to him, the survey suggests that the seizure of the allocation “has increased difficulties for women in the state of Osun” and significantly eroded the favorability of APC.
He pointed out that the acceptance of the PDP had increased from 65 percent three months ago to almost 85 percent in August.
“This result indicates that the APC strategy may have failed, since the seizure of the Fund has promoted the public attractiveness of the PDP and strengthened the support base of the state government,” said Adeyefa.
He added that this was the fifth survey conducted by GSI since January and promised a new refinement of the methodology of the organization for future research.
GSI is a group of opinion surveys based in Abuja, but with a project in Osun. This is his fifth survey on issues related to Osun’s public.
