The Association of Manufacturers of Nigeria (MAN), Kano Branch, has appealed to the management of the Holding Power of Niger (NDPHC) to extend the company’s eligible customer program to boost industrial growth.
Extension of the eligible customer program to Kano manufacturers, said the group would help address the serious energy challenges that paralyze local manufacturing activities in the state.
The appeal was made during the visit of a delegation of 20 members of the manufacturers, led by the managing director of Dala Foods, Kano, Alhaji Ali Madugu, to the administration of NDPHC on the weekend.
Madugu emphasized the preparation of the Kano man to associate with NDPHC for a sustainable energy supply.
“Our members have both the capacity and the will to acquire energy directly from NDPHC. Access to reliable electricity is essential to revive industries and maintain jobs in the state of Kano,” he said.
Directing visitors, the managing director, Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), Egnr. Jennifer Adightije, said the Association of Manufacturers of Nigeria (MAN) of the company’s will to associate with them to boost industrial growth, create jobs and improve the country’s socioeconomic development.
Adighije expressed the preparation of NDPHC to support manufacturers within the scope of regulations and infrastructure capacity.
“We are committed to associate with the manufacturing sector to boost industrial growth, create jobs and improve socio -economic development. Within the provisions of the eligible framework of customers, we are ready to work with the Kano man for this to happen,” he said.
He pointed out that the recent improvement of the company in the availability of the plant has positioned NDPHC to increase the offer and meet the demands of makers once regulatory approval is received, and added that the reactivation of key assets, including the electrical plants of Omotosho and Alaoji, will further improve the generation capacity.
However, the Executive Director of Corporate, Commercial and Strategy Services of NDPHC, ENGR. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, and the executive director of Networks, Eng. Bello Babayo Bello provided a detailed roadmap on how Kano man could take advantage of NDPHC energy supply opportunities.
Remember that Adightije had declared that the company plans to release and market approximately 200 megawatts of its 2,000 megawatts of varied electricity at the end of 2025.
He had also lamented the “abysmally low absorption of electricity” of the electricity market by electricity distribution companies, saying that this had significantly weighed the company’s operations.
The meeting ended with a positive note, with both parties expressing optimism about a mutually beneficial association to unlock industrial potential in Kano.
Also present at the meeting were the interim managing director of Fabricaters Power Development Company Limited, Mr. Oweh MBA-SAM, the technical assistant of the NDPHC MD and other senior executives of NDPHC.
