The Kogi state government has expressed a deep sadness for the death of Professor Olu Akerejola, a distinguished Ogori indigenous in the area of the local government of Ogori/Magugo and former general director of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF).
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Lokoja, the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, described the late academic as “a detributed Nigerian, a renowned scholar and a great patriot who dedicated his life to knowledge, service and search for unity both within the state of Kogi and throughout the country.”

According to the government, Akerejola’s commitment to build bridges between people and their unwavering belief in the ideals of a United Nigeria remains an indelible legacy.
Fanwo pointed out that Kogi’s state has lost an outstanding child whose intellect, humility and passion for development brought pride the state, ensuring that the Government meets the Akerejola family, the Ogori/Magongo community, and in fact to the entire people of the State in this moment of pain.
He prayed for the Almighty God to grant the eternal soul of the soul of the deceased professor and give his family the strength to endure the loss.
However, the details of his death are not yet available, but his younger brother, Demiloye Akerejola, confirmed the death of the famous family name educator.
He said: “On behalf of the real dynasty of Eeminefo, I wish with a heavy heart, confirm and announce the death of Professor Olugbemiro Akerejola.”
Demiloye said the teacher born in the state of Kogi died on Monday night to more than 80 years.
