According to the award -winning novelist, looking for constantly online is like “fighting ghosts without face” that can distort reality and cause mental damage.
“In addition, you can’t fight ghosts without face. If you are looking for yourself all the time, what you are really doing is fighting faceless ghosts and it is bad for you mentally. Distort your vision of reality.
“For me, at least to stay focused on what I want to do, the background noise must be blocked. There are so many people who write without knowing how deeply they affect someone’s life through it.
“Several celebrities committed suicide because they were very injured by what these faceless ghosts wrote about them.
He pointed out that negative comments have led many celebrities to depression and even suicide.
Chimamanda Adichie added that he would not have written most of his literary works, or become who he is today, if he had begun reading people’s opinions about her.
“If I had begun to read what people said, I would not have written and said the things I did. I would not have become who I am, because I would have been constantly thinking about what people say.
“But there is a kind of wonderful ignorance of stupidity that helps you do what you want to do. So I never look for myself. I won’t. It’s not healthy.”
