The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has revoked the protection of the secret service for former vice president Kamala Harris, according to a copy of the letter reviewed by ABC News.
The executive memorandum, issued on Thursday afternoon, was addressed to the Secretary of National Security Kristi Noem, confirmed a senior official.
“For this, he is authorized to suspend any procedure related to security previously authorized by the Executive Memorandum, beyond those required by law, for the next individual as of September 1, 2025: former Vice President Kamala D. Harris”, the White House memorandum a Noem affirms.
Former President Joe Biden had previously extended Harris’s protection for an additional year beyond the six mandatory months by law for former vice presidents, multiple officials said.

The decision marks another in a series of Trump’s protection cancellations. At the beginning of March, he withdrew the security details for former Secretary of National Security Alejandro Mayorkas, members of the Biden family, John Bolton, and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
“The vice president thanks the United States Secret Service for his professionalism, dedication and unwavering commitment to security,” said Kristen Allen, Harris main advisor, in a statement to ABC News.
