Before the 2026 governor elections in Ekiti, Governor Biodun Oyebanji has asked the people of the State to maintain peace and order.
While condemning the recent waves of political violence and attacks in some parts of the State, he revealed that his ambition is not worth the blood of any citizen.
Oyebanji, in a state broadcast transmitted in all radio and television stations in the state on Tuesday morning, said that “security agencies will be alert and will not allow anyone to consider Ekiti’s immaculate name as a peaceful and progressive state.”

Oyebanji said that it has been “seriously alarmed by the recent occurrence of political matrix in some parts of the State”, which denies the fact that Ekiti has been peaceful for more than two and a half years of its administration and has been judged by the Security Community as the most peaceful state. “
He warned the people of the state that he did not allow the people to whom he referred as “fifth columnists” to arm the challenges associated with some paths that need rehabilitation to blind them to see other roads that the state government and the federal government have solved.
He also ordered political leaders to control their supporters to give peace priority, while appealing to their supporters to behave exemplary and avoid an acrimoninary commitment to anyone, regardless of the level of provocation.
According to him, “it should never be heard that the members of my party or those who sympathize with us are involved in acts that are capable of instigating violence. My aspiration is not worth the value of the precious blood of any person Ekiti. No one is allowed to intimidate, intimidate or coincide with another person, and each citizen Ekiti has the right to move freely to move the votes for votes.
“While the political temperature is generally expected to increase during the election season, it is almost a fact that with the two previous governor elections in the state, which were awarded very peaceful, Ekiti has accepted a new political culture where political actors concern ideas, and not with weapons or cuts. Recent incidents are, therefore, a condemned setback that should not allow them to allow festivities to be allowed Festiar.
“In fact, the toughest critics of this administration have recognized that we have directed an inclusive government; not only crossing the corridor of the partisan division to designate the people of the opposition to the government, but also deliberately arriving at the leaders of the key opposition, including those disputed against us, to be interesting in our administration.
“Deliberately we take this path due to our permanent belief in peace and its imperatives for sustainable socioeconomic development. There is no doubt that Ekiti’s political environment has been indulgent, liberal, open and peaceful since we assumed the position. That is why one is seriously concerned about the pockets of intolerable violence that took place in last week.
“It was even more scary than these attacks came after our initial appeal to interested parties to maintain peace and guarantee a freezing choice. Once again, appeal to my supporters to maintain peace, lead ourselves in an exemplary way, and avoid any glazed commitment to anyone, regardless Acts that are capable of instance.
“While our Constitution, as a nation, gives all citizens the right to freedom of association and expression, such freedom must be exercised within the limits of the law. No one is allowed to intimidate, intimidate or force another person, and each citizen of Ekiti has the right to move freely and revert peacefully by votes.
“Therefore, I ask all political leaders to trust their supporters to give peace priority. The seed of our ambition should not be fed with the blood of our followers. We must all be committed to the ideals that Ekiti’s peace is more important than our individual aspirations.”
The governor appealed to all people in Ekiti to carry out their normal legitimate activities without fear or hesitation, and pointed out that security agencies have been adequately informed to guarantee a peaceful environment and to quickly treat any threat without leaving or favor.
Oyebanji assured people the commitment of his administration to the social contract he has with them, which he has manifested in all sectors of the economy, and added that he would continue to serve and working for their general well -being.
