The Women’s Conference of Africa (AWC) will hold its ninth edition in Johannesburg, South Africa, from November 5 to 7, 2025, under the theme “Legacy meets innovation: women forging new ways for the sustainable development of Africa”.
Since its inception in 2018, the AWC has become one of the most important platforms of the continent dedicated to advancing in the empowerment of African women. It brings together experts, policy, entrepreneurs, academics and organizations committed to the configuration of inclusive and sustainable solutions for the development of Africa.
A platform for change
The AWC was established with a clear mission that is to provide women with African descent a platform to design Afrokcentric solutions to Africa’s challenges. His vision is still rooted in the construction of associations that are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while adding women’s realities and potentials in Africa.
Over the years, the conference has been organized in different countries, including the United States, Namibia, Morocco, Rwanda, Gambia and Zambia. Each edition has explored pressing issues from the economic empowerment of women and digital inclusion to gender equality and sustainable governance.
Focus 2025: Legacy meets innovation
This year’s conference will highlight the intersection of heritage and modernity, honoring the contributions of African women leaders while adopting innovative strategies to ensure the future of the continent. Discussions will focus on reimagining African education in the AI ​​era, with emphasis on balanceing learning driven by technology with a cultural context. Another key approach will be to transcend borders through the construction of regional cooperation and networks for the empowerment of young African women. The conference will also advance the conversations about inclusive governance, the use of AI, data and indigenous innovation to promote electoral equity, safety and participation of young people in decision making.

The three -day event will feature main directions of distinguished African and international thought leaders, discussion panels on gender technology, technology and inclusion, and practical workshops on leadership, innovation and digital skills.
