Independent corrupt practices and other related crimes commissions (ICPC) have recruited state information commissioners throughout the country in the renewed fight against corruption.
In a statement signed by the Information Commissioner of the State of Oyo, Prince Dotun Oyelade, who attended the Round Table Meeting of ICPC in Abuja with other information commissioners throughout the country, it was observed that corruption remains a decisive challenge at the federal level, the true battlefield is at the state levels and the local government due to its room to the bases.
At the meeting, the commissioners and the ICPC resolved several long -range measures, including:
Maintaining the collaboration and synergy between the ICPC and the state information commissioners to disseminate anti -corruption messages using state -owned media platforms.
Implementation of deliberate and sustained communication strategies to generate public confidence, legitimacy and collective action against corruption.
Embarrate anti -corruption messages in government information management processes.
Awareness and mobilization of citizens to demand responsibility, participate in the government and inform corrupt practices.
Build capacity and provide training for state and local government officials on strategic communication, transparency and anti -corruption tools.
Promoting ethical reorientation by integrating integrity values ​​into governance, schools and community structures.
Associate with media and civil society to amplify government efforts and provide independent evaluations.
Communicate anti -corruption messages in local languages ​​commonly spoken in communities.
Launch of centered campaigns and creating a WhatsApp platform for a constant commitment between the states and the ICPC.
Translation of Publications and Information, Education and Communication (IEC) of ICPC in local languages ​​for a broader scope.
Provide air time in radio and television public stations for anti -corruption programs and awareness campaigns.
Organization of thematic defense campaigns aimed at schools, ministries, departments and agencies (MDA) to boost behavior change and ethical reorientation.
The resolutions, according to Prince Oyelade, are aimed at strengthening the collective will to combat corruption, particularly at the base level where its effects feel more.
In his final comments, the president of ICPC, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, San, said that the round commitment to information commissioners throughout the country is deliberate, since it is one of the vital steps that the agency is looking to reduce corruption to its minimum minimum and save Nigeria from the avoidable international shame.
In his own speech, the Minister of Information and Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi, agreed with the president of ICPC to have synergy with state commissioners for information is important and promised to work relentlessly with his state colleagues to update the objectives of the round table meeting.
