Nigerian troops have killed a notorious weapons in the state of plateau and recovered rifles and ammunition from their hiding place.
The operation, carried out by the operation of 3 division/joint force that supports peace between September 4 and 6, is considered an important step to break the supply lines that feed the violence of bandits in the center-northern region.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the man described as a “target of high value”, had supplied weapons and logistics to criminal groups throughout the plateau and the nearby states. His death is considered a serious blow to those networks.
According to reports, intelligence led the troops to its hiding place on September 4, where it was receiving treatment for gunshot wounds. He was arrested and then admitted to being a supplier, even took the soldiers to his cache of arms.
On September 6, the troops returned to hiding place for a monitoring operation. They put under fire of their gang members, causing a fierce shooting battle. The suspect tried to escape during the shooting, but was killed by soldiers. His accomplices fled injuries.
After the meeting, the soldiers registered the area and found two AK-47 rifles and two magazines.
The authorities say that while the recovery may seem small, it represents a larger victory since the army is deliberately attacking the criminal supply chains that keep the armed and active bandits. They say that cutting these networks will weaken gangs and reduce violence in the region.
