The Reverend Yakubu PAM, president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 northern states and the territory of the Federal Capital (FCT), says that President Bola Tinubu has good intentions for the country, but must do more to address suffering, difficulties and insecurity as citizens are running out of patience.
He made the observations in Kaduna during the weekend in the state of the nation.
“There are difficulties. Whoever says there are no difficulties, I think that person is not telling the truth,” he said.
However, he hastened to add that the president justified what he found in the field and assured that, over time, things would improve.
“The only word that would give it is that we must continue with the novelty of hearts and sincerity for Nigerians,” Pam said.
He added that the intentions matter, and Tinubu seems to be on the right path.
“I could see that President Tinubu has a very good intention for the country. I know he has given his word to the Nigerians, and I also know that he is doing everything possible in terms of improving the economy, infrastructure and in terms of leadership.”
Pam, however, warned that intentions alone are not enough, particularly because danger signs are still increasing in terms of insecurity.
On the issue of the creation of the State Police, the leader of the north of the can declared full support while warned against his abuse.
“I have 100 percent support. The State Police is the best. Yes, there are some disadvantages when some governors will use it for their own policy, but I think the laws they will support can protect against misuse.”
He asked the Federal Government to ensure that the general elections of 2027 are credible, inclusive and free of manipulation.
“I would encourage these elections to be transparent and be one of the best.”
