Ariana Grande stole the care center at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, ensuring the coveted video of the year for the brightest days ahead. The successful song also won the best pop song, marking a triumphant night for the singer and composer and actor of 32 years.

While receiving the main honor of the night at the ceremony held near New York City, Grande thanked his fans for his unwavering support.

“Thank you for growing with me and supporting me as much as a human being,” he said, dedicating his victory to his “therapist and gay people” in a cheerful wink during his previous acceptance speech.

Another great winner of the night was Lady Gaga, who paused in her concert series to accept the Artist The Year Award, overcoming heavyweights such as Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd. The event combined nostalgia with modern pop culture, with performances by legends such as Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes and Ricky Martin, along with younger stars such as Doja Cat and Tate McRAE, who infused their sets with choreography inspired by the eighties and ninety years.

In a surprising turn, rapper Kendrick Lamar, just out of a streak of five victories in the recent Grammys, left without a prize despite multiple nominations.

Unlike the politically loaded ceremony last year, which saw Taylor Swift encourage fans to vote for Kamala Harris, this year’s VMA moved away from politics, focusing directly on music and performance.
