The Nigerian sensational celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, has revealed why she decided to cook 200 rice bags instead of the 250 bags initially planned for her attempt as a worldwide record of Guinness for the largest portion of Jollo Nigerian style rice.
In a statement, Baci said the decision to reduce the amount of rice was due to technical reasons related to the crane and the measurement scale designed to weigh the final dish.
The weight of the personalized pot, combined with the rice, would exceed the limit of 20,000 kilograms of the measurement device.

“If you notice when we start, we weigh the pot and needed to weigh everything that enters the pot when we finish.
“The average crane and the measurement device can only weigh 20,000 kilograms. It is safer for me below 20,000 kilograms so that my scale can take everything at the same time,” Baci explained.
Despite reducing the amount, Baci emphasized that the 200 cooked rice bags still ascend to 4,000 kilograms, sufficient to feed 20,000 people.
“These 4,000 kilograms of rice are 200 bags of rice and will still feed 20,000 people, so we are still there,” he said.
The event, which attracted a large multitude of food lovers, celebrities and dignitaries, has acquired the sensation of a carnival with music, dance and appearances of public figures.
Baci described the feat as the most ambitious of his career, noting that it took almost a year of planning to achieve.
“Honestly, Gino and I thought that all this was agitated. Discovering how to manufacture the pots, Mr. Ayo took two months to discover and manufacture the pots. Then he took us about nine months to plan this event and took us almost nine hours to make the full food,” he revealed.
Guinness World Record, the record body based in London, published a message of encouragement on social networks, wishing Baci “the best of luck” in their attempt.
The recognition occurs only two years after Guinness certified the 2023 Cook-A-Thon 2023, which brought their global reputation and inspired many young Nigerians to explore the culinary industry.
