Kogi’s state government has said that it is unfortunate that bandits now operate with Okunland’s indigenous people, promised to treat any young man in the state who delivers and incite bandits to cause chaos to innocent citizens.
The state security advisor of the governor of Kogi, Jerry Omadara, declared this at the Egbe Palace while giving a progress report and the state government’s effort on the fight against insecurity in Kogi West.
According to him, the intelligence information at his disposal indicated that some young people in Okunland used motorcycles to transmit weapons and food to the forest bandits.

He claimed that about six or seven young people from Okun are already in their black book because they are in the payrolls of the bandits, ensuring that, since some of the young people have connection with the bandits, the government will not hesitate to treat them as bandits.
“Unfortunate, the bandits are now operating with Okunland’s indigenous people. Bandids have made our women sell soft drinks, bread and other foods. Women supplied food and gave them vital information.
“There are people in Yagba West who paid the money from the bandits so that they do not kidnap them. We will expose those people at the appropriate time because enough is enough.
“Our young people are already involved, used their motorcycles to supply weapons and ammunition on the mountain. The women of these bandits brought ammunition from the north end and gave our young mani to transmit ammunition to their men on the mount of Okunland that they used to terrorize our people.
“Imagine, Okun Women becomes friends of the bandits. Once again, our Okun people are becoming too vague to some extent that, it is the guy who grow okro, pepper, corn for us and this is an aberration.
“I want to emphasize that the Kogi state government is not sleeping on the insurgents in Okunland. We have arrested and killed many of its leaders and we will continue chasing the bandits that did not allow us to sleep or go to the farms.
“We will make our communities safe, we will make the State safe so that our farmers go to the farm. We will continue following the bandits until we finish killing them all so that our people can sleep with their two closed eyes,” he said.
He pointed out that the state government has largely invested in agriculture to provide supplies to farmers, saying that time has reached Okun people to take their destiny in their hands so that no body can come from outside to violate Okun’s rules and begin to cause an insomnia night on earth.
“I am asking you to take advantage of the available potentials that abound in agriculture to improve the standard of living of our people. These are areas that I want our young people to dissipate their energy by taking advantage to improve their standard of living,” he said.
