Investors lose N219.6 billion as the Variable Rent market begins the weakest week at 0.24%

The Nigerian stock market opened the week with a descending note since the NGX All-Share (like) index fell into 0.24 percent to close to 141,498.22 basic points.

In the Nigerian exchange (NGX) on Monday, losses in Nigerian breweries, United Bank for Africa and Oando led the lowest way, with their participation values ​​decreasing by 7.6 percent, 2.7 percent and 5.8 percent, respectively.

Consequently, the yield of the year to date decreased to 37.48 percent of 37.81 percent registered the previous week, while the monthly yield was set at +0.9 percent.

Market capitalization also showed N219.63 billion, or 0.24 percent, to close at N89.52 billion.

The feeling of the market remained cautious, as reflected in a negative market amplitude with 21 actions that advanced against 28 decliners.

On the performance board, McNichols Consolidated and Iikeja Hotel registered the most pronounced losses of the day, with their participation values ​​at 10.0 percent and 9.8 percent, respectively. On the winners, Royal Exchange and Safe Electronic Technology led with value increases of the 9.8 percent and 6.7 percent shares, respectively.

The sectorial performance was weak, since the banking, insurance sectors, consumer and oil and gas goods recorded losses of 1.25 percent, 0.08 percent, 0.77 percent and 0.50 percent, respectively, while the industrial and basic products sectors closed flatly.

The commercial activity was mixed: the negotiation volume increased by 12.25 percent to 488.56 million units, while the commercial value fell by 9.32 percent to N13.72 billion in 28,621 agreements, which reflects an increase in the number of transactions.

Universal Insurance was the most negotiated by volume action, with 79.56 million units, while Zenith Bank was the most negotiated by value of N3.86 billion.
