Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar accused the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sponsor disinformation campaigns against him through press statements manufactured.

Atiku, in a statement signed on Thursday by his media advisor, Paul Ibe, said the presidency had resorted to the hiring of faceless people to issue false releases in his name.

“We have observed with concern a certain” media consultant “, a Kola Johnson, issuing press releases on behalf of former vice president Atiku Abubakar.

“Our findings directly point to the Presidency, which in their despair for rubbing opposition leaders, has resorted to hire faceless mercenaries to manufacture false stories and circulate unauthorized statements about Atiku,” reads the statement.

He described as “particularly offensive” a claim attributed to Johnson that his administration would be dominated by a single ethnic group, which rules it as part of a propaganda campaign to ridicule it in the media.

“Atiku Abubakar has never hired a Kola Johnson as a media consultant, assistant or associated. Any statement issued in that name is false and should not be taken into account. We urge the media houses that have published such falsehoods to retract them immediately.”

The former vice president urged the Nigerians and the media to be attentive, accusing Tinubu’s government to compromise journalists to circulate falsehoods.

“For the registration, the authentic information of Atiku Abubakar only launched through the Atiku Media Office, signed by its media advisor, Paul Ibe, or the special assistant in public communications. The editors and the media guardians are firmly that they will verify with the master before the publication.”
