The Turkish security forces have arrested 567 people in national operations aimed at the exploitation of online children, illegal bets and fraud in the last 10 days, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced Monday.
In a publication on X, Yerlikaya said that 209 suspects had been formally arrested, while the courts imposed judicial control measures to another 112. Legal procedures are ongoing for the remaining suspects.
He said that the detainees were accused of crimes, including possession or distribution of child abuse material, managing illegal bets of bets and gambling, facilitating illegal money transfers and illegally accessing mobile bank accounts.
Yerlikaya added that some suspects also carried out online scams that involve fake loan offers, false investment advice, sales of fraudulent products, visas requests and car rental schemes used to defraud citizens.
