Nollywood actor and filmmaker Daniel Etim-Effiong has opened up about how his Christian faith shaped his approach to acting, especially in romantic roles in films.

In an interview with Channels Television, Etim-Effiong revealed that he prays before doing any kissing scenes on set and explained that his spiritual beliefs guide his decisions.

“The fact that I play a lot of romantic roles in the industry today means that sometimes I have kissing scenes,” she said. “People feel it’s too much, but the question should be for the producers. Why do they express affection and intimacy only in a certain way? There are several other ways you can show affection.”

He noted that many producers include kissing scenes because they attract audiences and satisfy market demand.

Furthermore, he said, “I get all my inspiration from God. I kneel and pray before I sit and kiss. My family is my garden, then my work.”

Etim-Effiong also shared that acting is like a calling for him, a calling that led him to leave a career in engineering to pursue storytelling.

“It becomes a purpose for me, and that’s why I had the courage to leave engineering, a well-paid job, to dedicate myself to telling stories. It felt like a vocation,” he added.
