The Senate has set Wednesday, October 29, to review the newly appointed service chiefs for confirmation.

The Senate had earlier scheduled the review for next week after President Bola Tinubu wrote letters requesting its review.

However, the Red Chamber later backtracked, saying it was urgent for security chiefs to start working immediately.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, appealed to his colleagues to approve the screening date on Wednesday, which was unanimously approved by the senators.

“They have to start working immediately,” he said.

Tinubu wrote two letters, one specifically seeking confirmation from the Chief of Defense Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede.

The second letter conveyed a request to confirm the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waheedi Shaibu; the Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas; the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke; and Chief of Defense Intelligence, Major General Emmanuel Undiendeye.
