Two young males have been confirmed dead in Osisioma axis of Aba after a Toyota Camry they were traveling in veered off the road and crashed into a deep ditch.
The impact of the accident trapped the victims inside the unfortunate car in the flooded sewer, causing them to die before help could arrive.
Confirming the incident to Newslodge, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Abia State Sector Command, Ngozi Ezeoma, said the FRSC office was informed early on Tuesday.
According to her, those who reported the accident said it occurred at 1:00 am, noting that FRSC removed the bodies of two male victims who were trapped.
“Their bodies were deposited at the mortuary. FRSC recovered the vehicle from a ditch with a crane.
“The vehicle is a Toyota Camry. The preliminary investigation revealed excessive speed which caused the driver to lose control,” he said.
Some Osisioma residents cried profusely Tuesday morning as the victims’ remains were pulled from the water.
