President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to address insecurity across the country, declaring that he will not relent until all Nigerians are protected.
In a statement released on Sunday through his official name
“Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to security, and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people,” Tinubu said.
The President also recalled that he canceled his trip to the Group of 20 summit scheduled for November 22 and 23 at the Johannesburg Exhibition Center in South Africa.
He deputed Vice President Kashim Shettima to represent him, saying his focus was on coordinating security efforts in the country following the recent kidnappings in some parts of the country.
Tinubu noted that his decision was motivated by the need to intensify operations aimed at rescuing 25 schoolgirls kidnapped in Kebbi State as well as worshipers kidnapped from a church in Kwara.
In an update, the President announced the release of 38 worshipers kidnapped from the Christ Apostolic Church, Eruku, in Kwara.
He also revealed that 51 of the more than 300 children kidnapped from a Catholic school in Niger State had regained their freedom.
“You may recall that I canceled my trip to the G20 summit in South Africa so I could coordinate security efforts at home.
“Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the past few days, the 38 worshipers kidnapped in Eruku, Kwara State, have been rescued.
“I am equally happy that 51 of the missing Catholic school students in Niger State have been recovered,” he said.
Tinubu commended the efforts of the security agencies and assured Nigerians that he is “closely monitoring the security situation across the country and receiving continuous updates from the frontline.”
