The founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has shared details of a 1987 incident in Kaduna where he said marijuana was secretly planted in his car in an attempt to implicate him.
Oyedepo recounted the experience in a video that circulated widely on social media on Tuesday, telling congregants how the plot was discovered by his former driver, Clifford, who insisted on washing the vehicle that morning.
According to him, Clifford made a strange discovery while cleaning the car, removing the seat and finding a freshly wrapped substance.
“Some colleagues planted marijuana in my car in those days in 1987, in Kaduna, in the mechanic’s workshop,” he said.
“I had never seen him in my life, so I wouldn’t know. My driver, who was my old driver, came from Katsina and said, ‘Sir, let me wash the car this morning.’
“He was a pastor now. Then he came, I’m going to wash the car. Mysteriously, he was removing the seat (I’d never seen that kind of car wash in my life) and he found something freshly wrapped. He opened it.
“Clifford ran up to me, shaking, and I said, ‘What’s wrong?’ He said, ‘Look, look, look.’ I said, ‘What is this?’ I said, ‘That’s one of the things my wife plants behind the house.’
“He said, ‘This is pee.’ I said, ‘What is pee?’ “I met Jesus early, so I didn’t have the opportunity to know those things.”
He explained that the situation escalated that same night when police officers stopped him and attempted to search his car.

Oyedepo continued: “That night, I was walking home from the office and the policeman who was greeting me stopped me and I said, ‘Let’s go.’ I said, ‘What for?’ He said, “We want to check it out.”
“They went to the exact place where that thing was kept. I said, ‘Shame on you.’ He said, ‘I’m sorry, sir.'”
The cleric said the incident strengthened his belief in divine protection, describing it as evidence of God’s power over evil plans. He highlighted that many innocent people end up in prison due to similar schemes.
“No one can contain himself. We are maintained by the power of God. Today there are many poor people in prison who did nothing.
“They simply found themselves there because of the schemes of the wicked. You will not be a victim. Therefore, the sooner you meet Him and work with Him, the better for you,” he said.
