Sophia Momodu, the mother of Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has addressed criticism over why her daughter, Imade, was not present at the music star’s recent birthday celebration, denying allegations that she prevented the girl from attending.

In a Snapchat post, Sophia explained why she acted the way she did and responded to reports circulating online.

He said his focus is on protecting his daughter and maintaining her privacy, warning people not to spread unverified stories about Imade’s well-being.

“You guys have been making this false narrative for over 10 years. And while I try to be as classy as possible, I’m also a very protective mother. Say what you want about me, that’s fine. But leave my son alone. This is non-negotiable. Imade is not a bargaining chip for his mother to settle.”

In the series of posts made by Sophia, she stated that “My daughter is an innocent 10 year old girl. She is a pre-teen, she hasn’t even started to understand things yet! She is literally still a baby! Go ahead, if anyone blogs or anyone mentions my daughter’s name in a negative way, your lawyers will listen to you. I have completely removed myself from the equation! My daughter will prosper in peace! However, I will always defend my daughter even if no one does.” ago!”

Sophia added that she is ready to take legal action against those who publish false information about her son.

“I honestly can’t wait to use one of you as a scapegoat. Let’s end the year 2025 in grand style since you guys have no common sense and no feelings when you attack an innocent 10 year old girl, all in an attempt to get your mother to conform and compromise. It will never happen, move on.”

The issue arose after Imade was absent from Davido’s 33rd birthday event, celebrated in Atlanta with family and friends, including his daughter Hailey.
