The Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) and the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) are collaborating to ensure that public procurement complies with the Nigeria First Policy in a bid to encourage patronage of products made in Nigeria.
Signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the implementation of the Nigerian Industrial Standards (NIS), Dr. Adebowale A. Adedokun of BPP and Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke emphasized the need to support the Federal Government’s Nigeria First policy.
According to a statement by Zira Zakka Nagga, the MoU establishes a framework of cooperation to ensure that goods, works and services procured by the government meet relevant Nigerian industrial standards and encourages the adoption of local content and the use of Nigerian-made products that meet approved quality standards.
The statement noted that “with the signing of the MoU, both institutions reaffirm their commitment to improving quality outcomes in government projects and promoting transparency, competitiveness and value for money in line with the Nigeria First policy.”
