US President Donald Trump ordered flags lowered across the United States for a week in honor of country music legend Dolly Parton following her death at the age of 80.
Trump paid tribute to the late music icon and described his death as a great loss to millions of people.
“This is a true loss for millions of people. There has never been anyone like her, and there never will be… Rest in peace, Dolly! The world loves you,” Trump said.
The move comes after Parton died on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the age of 80.
Parton was one of country music’s most celebrated figures, with a career spanning more than six decades.

She was known for hits such as “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and “I Will Always Love You,” while her work also extended into acting, business, and philanthropy.

Parton also founded the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, a program that provides free books to young children.
His death has sparked tributes from fans and public figures, with many remembering his contribution to music and his charitable work.
