Veteran nollywood Actress Ronke Oshodi-Oke has said that if she is ever seen endorsing a politician, it should not be confused with genuine political loyalty but a matter of personal survival.
The actress made the revelation during an appearance on digital talk show Africa A-List, in a clip that has since gone viral and sparked reactions on social media.
Speaking directly to his followers, he made it clear that any future support for a political figure would be driven by financial need rather than conviction.
“My people, if you ever see me standing behind a politician, know that Ronke wants to eat,” said the actress during the broadcast. “She’s looking for something to put food on her table. She’s trying to understand and not drag me away.”
In the same interview, the actress spoke about the difficult health issues she went through and revealed that she once spent up to N800,000 every month on medication.
She credited God, popular Lagos political figure, MC Oluomo, and some of her colleagues in the industry for supporting her through the ordeal, describing their support as the reason she is alive today.
“Thank God He is God, and thank you MC Oluomo and my colleagues who kept me alive today. Do you know what it means for someone to buy medicines worth N800,000 every month?
Ronke also revealed that her illness caused an unexpected gesture from actress Sotayo, with whom she had not spoken for years after a fight.
According to her, the two had not communicated for about five or six years, but Sotayo reached out with financial support as soon as she found out about the illness.
“Let’s take Sotayo, I don’t mention names lightly but I will mention hers. Sotayo and I had not spoken in a long time, not that we were at war but we had a little disagreement. The last time Sotayo and I spoke was five or six years ago. But when he found out that I fell ill, he sent me 150,000 naira,” he said.
Despite the gesture, Ronke revealed that the two have yet to fully reconcile, noting that they still avoid each other at public events.
“If we meet at a party, we avoid each other without greeting each other,” he said.
