The Federal Government has said that former Federation Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke, SAN, actively participated in the negotiation of the troublesome P&ID agreement, contrary to his (Adoke) claim that P&ID happened after he left The charge.

Stream Office Attorney General of the Federation and the Minister of Justice, in a statement, said: “The AGF is aware of current media reports related to a letter it received from Adoke, SAN, regarding the ongoing dispute between the Federal Government and P&ID.” .

“In the letter, Mr. Adoke had demanded an apology and” appropriate monetary compensation “that the Attorney General’s office considers to be totally wrong.

“Investigations continue into Mr. Adoke’s involvement in the OPL 245 deal, and also in connection with the disastrous gas supply deal made with BVI’s P&ID shell company.

Adoke seeks to wash the hands of any involvement in P&ID settlement negotiations, stating that all P&ID settlement negotiations took place after he left office as the then Attorney General of the Federation. This is simply not true, as settlement negotiations took place in 2012, 2014 and during the spring of 2015, when Adoke was the then Attorney General of the Federation.

“It should be mentioned that Adoke is being represented by Paul Erokoro, SAN. In fact, Mr. Erokoro, SAN, recently provided a witness affidavit on certain factual issues on behalf of P&ID in the London proceedings (in which he did not mention the issues he has raised in his letter).

“The FRN took all reasonable steps and followed due process to uncover and investigate fraud at the heart of the contract, to ensure that these serious allegations of bribery and corruption were only made when incontrovertible evidence was uncovered.

“The FRN relies on ongoing investigations in multiple jurisdictions to build its case against P&ID. The GSPA investigations are ongoing, and we are firmly committed to nullifying the injustice of the multi-million dollar award.

“$ 10 billion represents a massive part of Nigeria’s national budgets. It is our duty as a government to ensure that justice is guaranteed for the Nigerian people, no matter how long it takes.”
