… as number of associations seeking a registration increase to 171
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that a total of 2,802,790 are eligible voters in the next elections of governor in the state of Anambra.
Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and President, Information Education Committee and voters, revealed this in a statement on Thursday.
This statement pointed out that before the registration of continuous voters recently made in the state of Southeast, the eligible voters were located at 2,656,437 registered voters.
At the end of the CVR concluded in July, a total of 140,370 to the figure was added, while the valid transfer applications to the state were 5.983.
The statement gave a breakdown of the areas of the local government that voted for the population with Idemili North leading the table.
“The distribution of the new figures in the local government area shows that Idemili North with 246,318 (8.79%) has the largest number of voters, followed by Awka South with 216,611 (7.73%) and Ogbaru with 188,016 (6,71%). In the other hand, Dunokofia and Anambra West have 83,580 (2,98%). (2.55%) Registered voters respectively.
“The distribution of new voters through the local government area rises to our website and other official platforms to obtain public information.”
The Commission said that “the new voters in the state of Anambra, as well as those who requested the transfer or replacement of their permanent voter cards lost or damaged (PVC) that their cards will be ready for the collection very before the governor elections.”
Olumekun let an increase in the number of associations that seek to be registered as political parties that he put in 171.
The statement also said: “We want to appeal to all associations that presented letters of intention to keep the patient while we finished the process.
“We also urge you to avoid frequent changes in their logos, acronyms and addresses or an association that sends multiple applications.
“Worse, some associations have changed their provisional leadership, after defections to other associations or even existing political parties, thus delaying the process.
“We want to ensure the associations that the Commission will treat all applications just as they urge them to help the process consistent.”
