Bodyguard of the deceased Osinbajo obtains a new house and blocks of classrooms for the community

Six months after the District Head of Gui (a community in the FCT Abuja Municipal Area Council), Alhaji Alhassan Yusuf, drew the authorities’ attention to the lack of adequate educational facilities in his community, the Federal Government has responded with the completion of six blocks of classrooms for the community.

The project executed by the Presidency, through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP-SDGs), will address their educational needs, especially the high school that the community had long longed for, according to the Gui . District Chief.

The District Chief, on March 14, 2020, drew the authorities’ attention to the state of the infrastructure in the only school in the community when Vice President Yemi Osinbajo visited the area to commiserate the community for the loss of one of his sons, Ali Gomina. , who was a police escort rider attached to his office.

This disclosure was made in a statement issued by Arukaino Umuokoro, Special Assistant to the President for Communication, Office of the Vice President in Abuja, on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters over the weekend, after a tour of the newly completed classroom blocks, the visibly elated community leader reserved special praise and prayers for the vice president, at whose suggestion the project was completed in no time.

According to Yusuf, “I really appreciate our vice president who has lifted this community out of the poverty of education.

“This community is 6 kilometers from the only secondary school in this area, located in Sauka, along the main highway, and the road is really bad. During the rainy season, our children find it difficult to go to school in Sauka because of the bad road.

“So when we lost our son, Ali Gomina, and the vice president came to offer his condolences, I raised the issue of a secondary school for our community, and a day after making that request, the project was approved. The project started just six months ago and is now finished.

“What remains now is for the Ministry of Education to come and supervise the operation of this school. With the number of classrooms at this school, we look forward to having junior high and high school classes at this school. “

Expressing his sincere gratitude to the Vice President, Yusuf said: “Once again, on behalf of the Gui community, I sincerely thank the Vice President for what he has done. We pray that God will continue to protect him both in and out of office. “

On the sidelines of Saturday’s tour of the school, the project was the donation of a 3-bedroom bungalow and tent to the family of the late police inspector Ali Gomina, an accompanying horseman attached to the vice president’s office.

The presentation of the building was in fulfillment of an idea conceived when the Vice President paid a visit of condolences to the deceased family and the Gui community in March 2020.

Amid praise and cheers from the Gui elders and community members, the President’s Deputy Chief of Staff (Vice President’s Office) Ade Ipaye introduced the new house to the family of the deceased police officer.

Responding to questions from reporters after the presentation, Ipaye said “it is a welcome result for the family and the community.”

According to him, “They suffered a great loss when one of their rising stars, their son, was unfortunately killed in a motorcycle accident earlier in the year. He left behind a great family. His Excellency, the Vice President was here to sympathize with them and on that occasion the issue of a building for the family was discussed and His Excellency took it into account and ensured that it becomes a reality.

“I see that the District Chief, the family and the community are happy with this. The family not only has a bungalow, but also has a shop where they can carry out some commercial activities and be able to support themselves. We thank God that this happened. “

Also speaking after the project tour, a representative of OSSAP-SDGs, in the Presidency, Mr. Danjuma Dauda, said that the project was implemented in line with Goal 1 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aims to eradicate poverty and improve the quality of education.

Gomina, 45 years old, died in a motorcycle accident on March 13, 2020, while leading the Vice President’s caravan en route to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

For the late officer’s son, Husseini, the vice president’s donation of the house restores the joy that has overshadowed the family’s grief.

According to him, “On behalf of our family, I want to sincerely thank the Vice President for what he has done for our family since we lost our father. Joy has taken over my pain and my pain. We are excited for this new home and for the many other things the Vice President has done for our family. May God continue to bless him. “
