The Chinese ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, has reaffirmed China’s commitment to deepen his relationship with Nigeria, highlighting the resistance, unity and determination of the country.
Speaking at a reception celebrating the 76th anniversary of the Foundation of the People’s Republic of China, Ambassador Yu praised Nigeria’s national gene of never giving up, citing the remarkable return of the Super Falcons, the Nigerian women’s football team.
He said: “We are eager to share development opportunities with African countries, including Nigeria and the rest of the world.”

“China is ready to deepen cooperation with Nigeria in several sectors, aligning our policy with the ‘renewed hope’ agenda of Nigeria and eight priority areas.”
The ambassador highlighted significant milestones in the relations of China-Nigeria, including the state visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to China, which raised bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic association.
He also pointed out the completion of the Aguja Water Supply project, which will meet the clean water needs of almost 3 million people, and the possible construction of the first local installation of insulin production in Africa.
“During the year, China and Nigeria are side by side like the main developing countries,” said Ambassador Yu.
“Nigeria joined the BRICS family and became a founding member of the International Mediation Organization. Nigeria firmly supports the principle of a China in bilateral and multilateral environments, and contributes to the reform of global governance, international justice and collective interests of the global south.”
The ambassador expressed his delight for Nigeria’s decision to add the Chinese language to his senior high school curriculum, calling him an important bridge to deepen the friendship of China-Nigeria.
He also praised the Nigerian people, such as Mrs. Issah Fatimah Abiola, the first Nigerian train driver trained by CCECC, who was honored with the “Friendship Shipping Award” of China.
Ambassador Yu emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation, citing a proverb of Hausa, “Hannu da Yawa Ba and Karyowa” (a hand with many fingers does not break).
“Be united for a brighter and more splendid future,” he said. “That China and Nigeria enjoy the prosperity and happiness of its people! That China’s friendship and Nigeria last forever.”
Also speaking on behalf of the Nigerian government, Senator Babanida Hussaini, congratulated the Government and the people of China for the celebration of the milestone.
He said: “Tonight, we celebrate the lasting values ​​of resilience, determination and visionary leadership that have driven China to their current heights.
“More than 76 years, China has traveled from the construction challenges of the Nation to extraordinary achievements, becoming a world leader in manufacturing, innovation, infrastructure, science, technology, relief of poverty and sustainable development.
“Nigeria and China share a unique link, celebrating our national days on the same date, October 1. This coincidence symbolizes the deep intertwining of our destinations.
“Our integral strategic association is defined by tangible results in infrastructure, energy, agriculture, education, defense, trade and investment. Chinese companies and investments are visible in all corners of Nigeria, which contributes to modernization.
“The visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to China last year even more raised this association, consolidating our shared vision of prosperity.
“The 10 -year development plan of Nigeria and the renewed hope of President Tinubu find natural complementarity with the Belt and Road initiative of China, opening new opportunities for growth and shared prosperity.
“We celebrate the South-South Cooperation Principle, demonstrating solidarity with developing nations. Nigeria values ​​this association and hopes to continue cooperation to promote peace, stability and development.
