No less than 6,000 delegates have converged in Abidjan for annual 2025 meetings of the African Development Bank (AFDB).
The Nigeria news agency (NAN) reported that the highlight of the meetings will be the choice of a new president of AFDB to happen to Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, whose second five -year term ends on August 31.
The event, which will officially open on Tuesday (today), marks the opening of strategic discussions with the issue: “Make the capital of Africa work better for the development of Africa.”
Participants include: African chiefs of states and governments, finance ministers, governors of the Central Bank, private sector leaders, development partisans and civil society representatives, among others.
The issue requires a stronger mobilization of the vast human, financial and natural capital of Africa to boost inclusive growth, economic transformation and sustainable development throughout the continent.
According to the event program obtained by NAN, the meetings occur in the midst of great changes in global trade, with 47 African countries affected by the new tariffs of the United States and adjustments to development financing flows.
“In this context, participants deliberate are expected to strengthen regional markets, deepen value chains and position Africa as a self -sufficient global player.
“The sessions throughout the week will address the financing infrastructure, climate action, food security, digital innovation and private sector participation.”
NAN reported that the results of the meetings will help guide the Mark of Policies, Associations and Investment Strategies that reflect the Evolutionary Economic Panorama of Africa.
