A Jos High Court ordered on Wednesday that five men, accused of abducting a 10-year-old girl, be detained in a correctional facility, pending the determination of their case.
The police charged Felix Moses, Yahaya Abubakar, Sani Saleh, Anas Adam and Sale Ya’u of conspiracy, kidnapping and illegal possession of weapons.
Judge Samson Gang issued the order after the five suspects pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Gang, however, postponed the case until November 5 for a hearing.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Mr. Olarowaju Osho, told the court that the defendants conspired and abducted the girl from her father’s house in Rafiki Dutse Kura in the Bassa local government area in Plateau State. February 17th.
The crime, he said, is punishable by virtue of articles 216 and 245 of the Law of the Penal Code of the state of Plateau, ”he said.
After the defendants pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge, Osho requested that the suspects be sent to the Correctional Center to allow the prosecution to properly prepare for the hearing of the case.
Defense attorney, Mr. Abdullahi Bello, did not object to the postponement.
