Between June 24 and July 21, the number of new COVID-19 cases went up by 30%, and the number of deaths went up by 26%. This is more than in the previous 28 days (from May 27 to June 23), where there were about 186,000 new cases in 96 countries and over 2,800 new deaths in 35 countries.

By July 21, 2024, over 775 million confirmed cases and over seven million deaths had been reported worldwide since the coronavirus pandemic began.
