The reports of a crack among the members of the Executive Council of the State of Delta are not only false but a deliberate attempt to distract the administration of its development agenda, the Commissioner of Works (rural roads) and public information, said Mr. Charles Aniagwu.
According to him, the statements that the commissioners were fighting were manufactured by those who could not criticize the performance of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Going to a press conference in Asaba, Aniagwu said: “Since they cannot attack the governor in performance, they are resorting to falsehood,” said Aniagwu.
“There was no fight between the commissioners, and no one in the government has blamed the administration of anything. These stories have no foundation and never happened.”
He explained that the government has remained focused on empowerment projects and programs despite distractions.
Aniagwu postulated that several initiatives, including the RYSA program, under the Ministry of Youth, the most strange program, the women’s empowerment scheme, ICT training and support initiatives for girls, are in progress to cushion economic difficulties and create opportunities for citizens.
Aniagwu also highlighted the recently launched Widows welfare scheme, which pays the beneficiaries ₦ 15,000 per month along with the health insurance coverage.
He pointed out that each of the 10,000 registered widows received ₦ 45,000 in advance at the beginning of the program, representing three months in arrears.
He said that more empowerment programs would be implemented from October as the rains go back, which allows the government to channel funds in companies that will strengthen the local economy and boost the GDP of the State.
In the infrastructure, Aniagwu listed important projects such as the ₦ 59.7 billion UROMI Junction elevated in Agbor, the ₦ 39.3 billion autumn of elevated Junction in Ughelli, the double double double road interventions of Effurun-Sapele throughout the state.
He said that other works, including roads in Warri, Abraka and Asaba, as well as school rehabilitation projects, were being executed according to the evaluation of needs to guarantee the value of money.
Aniagwu reaffirmed that the Oborevwori Administration remains committed to the most agenda, insisting that it will not be distracted by the “discordant voices” of people determined to inform the public badly.
