Dominion Voting Systems has reached a confidential agreement with Rudy Giuliani, the former personal lawyer of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, in a demand for defamation of $ 1.3 billion linked to false claims on the presidential elections of 2020.
The case, presented in January 2021, accused Giuliani of spreading “defamatory falsehoods” claiming that Dominion manipulated the elections in favor of Joe Biden. The company said that Giuliani’s comments, which were amplified through media appearances and their podcast, damaged their reputation while enriching it financially.
In a judicial presentation on Friday, both parties requested a voluntary dismissal of the case. The liquidation terms remain not revealed, and each side accepts to assume their own legal costs and expenses.

The agreement arrives a few days after Dominion reached a similar confidential agreement with Sidney Powell, another former Trump lawyer who was also sued for $ 1.3 billion for his role in promoting the theories of electoral conspiracy without foundation.
Dominion has carried out multiple legal actions since 2021, including its high profile agreement with Fox News, which paid $ 787.5 million earlier this year to resolve claims about its erroneous information coverage related to elections.
Giuliani’s lawyer did not immediately respond to comments requests.
